PERFORCE3 innovative project to quantify PFAS

The PERFORCE3/ESR3 project seeks to determine with novel methods the release of legacy, alternative and unknown PFASs to the atmosphere and consequences for near- and far-field human exposure. The focus is on emissions of atmospheric PFAS by fluoropolymer production plants. Presence and concentrations of PFASs in air downwind of the sources is determined by high volume air sampling of total suspended particulates (TSP), followed by extraction and liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry.
