Celebrating a Decade at Digitel: An Interview with Niko

I am very grateful that I have been able to spend the last 10 years at Digitel. I have always felt valued and listened to. What I appreciate most is the flexibility of the company and that employees are helped with any concerns or problems! Be it flexible working hours, vacation requests at very short notice or workload adjustments. Thanks again for the last 10 years!

As Digitel marks a significant milestone with its team member Niko Radic reaching his 10-year anniversary, we sat down with Niko to reflect on a decade of growth, challenges, and unforgettable moments within the company. Niko, a polymechanic and our in house-expert in CNC manufacturing, has played an important role in Digitel’s production landscape. Here’s what he had to share about his journey…

Reflecting on the Past

What are some of your most memorable experiences during your 10 years at Digitel? Can you share a particular moment that stands out to you?

Niko: In general, I remember the many people I was able to work with. I was very impressed by our placement robot (Bestückungsroboter), which has been loading our CNC with parts for milling almost every night for the past few years. So much so that I’m doing further training as a Systems technician to understand more about robotics.

A particular moment that stands out is when I was tasked with a difficult contract manufacturing part. I made a mistake, but Regula gave me another chance, “I know you can do it”. After putting in the effort and learning from that experience, the next series was perfect🙂. Another special moment, was the acquisition of the DMP70 and EMCO Maxxturn. It was an exciting evolution for our production capabilities.

On a personal note, it was heartwarming to have Gabriel and Regula attend my wedding in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their presence shows the strong connections we build here at Digitel.

Career Growth

How have you seen your role evolve over the years? What new skills or knowledge have you gained during your time here?

Niko: When I first joined Digitel, my primary role was to support Patrick, our previous team leader, in setting up the CNC machines. Over time, I was encouraged to implement my own ideas and initiatives, which allowed me to gain invaluable experience. A few yeards later, I was promoted to team leader in production, which pushed me to acquire a diverse set of skills. I’ve learned a great deal about production methods, estimating the amount of work required for each part, clamping techniques, and measuring inaccuracies. I’ve also focused on team dynamics and fostering a good working relationship with my colleagues. Additionally, I’ve taken various courses on programming in Solid-CAM, which has enhanced my technical repertoire.

Future Aspirations

What excites you most about the future at Digitel? Are there any specific developments or projects you’re looking forward to being a part of?

Niko: A project for the future would be to automate another machine (with the knowledge I am acquiring in my further education). The potential of robotics in our work process is something I’m passionate about.

A Grateful Reflection

Anything else that you would like to share with us?

Niko: I am very grateful that I have been able to spend the last 10 years at Digitel. I have always felt valued and listened to. What I appreciate most is the flexibility of the company and that employees are helped with any concerns or problems! Be it flexible working hours, vacation requests at very short notice or workload adjustments. Thanks again for the last 10 years!

As Niko continues his journey at Digitel, we are excited to see how his aspirations for automation and robotics come to fruition. Here’s to many more successful years ahead for Niko and the Digitel team!
